3M™ 472 Vinyl Tape
Heavy-duty 3M™ 472 Vinyl Tape is a thick black vinyl backed tape with pigmented black rubber adhesive for the ultimate bonding strength. This 3M™ tape will stick very well to most surfaces and thanks to its vinyl backing it is easy to work with when a flexible and adaptable adhesive is needed. The 3M™ 472 works well as an abrasion-resistant and we would recommend this vinyl tape for protective and marking applications.
Whilst this incredibly strong vinyl tape will perform well indoors, it is an asset mainly in outdoor settings where a strong adhesive is needed to seal, protect, or mark surfaces. For projects that include sandblasting, sealing containers, protecting bead blast overspray, splicing, patching, and joining metals made from different compositions.
For best results using this vinyl tape, ensure that the surface or materials you will be placing the tape on are clean, dry, and free of any dust or oil residue. Once the tape has been applied the strong rubber adhesive will bond immediately, please note that the black pigmented adhesive may stain some surfaces.
The 3M™ 472 Vinyl Tape can stay on outdoor surfaces for up to a year and can be removed with ease for the first six months of application. Whilst the vinyl backing is able to resist most popular and commonly used solvents, there are some that may cause it to swell or curl. Solvents that should not be poured near the 3M™ 472 tapes are chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketones, or any pain strippers, degreasers, and thinners that may contain esters.
